MAF Ideals

Superules was conceived from the idea of men over the age of 35 being able to

continue playing the sport they love, but without the heavy commitment required

during their earlier competitive days.

The aim of Superules is:

  • To provide the opportunity for men over the age of 35 to

          play Australian Rules Football.

  • To provide social interaction between participants and

their families both on and off the field.

  • To provide the means of maintaining a higher level of fitness.

  • To provide coaching and administrative expertise for the

           benefit of all football.

S.A.  Superules (now Masters Australian Football-SA Division Inc.) began in 1982

when 4 teams were formed, North (now Pooraka), South, East and West, and all

games were played on Thebarton Oval.

The first National Carnival was held in 1983 in Melbourne:  Annual Carnivals are now

held with the host state being New South Wales 2007.  Carnival location to be Sydney, St Ignatius College, Riverview, Sunday 30th September – 8th October 2007.

There will be fifteen teams (15) in the SA Division 2007.

This is due to the welcome inclusion of the new team from Sacred Hearts College.

SA Superules Inc. is now Masters Australian Football-SA Division Inc.

All clubs have their own home grounds and with the assistance of their local club they

are able to grow and consolidate their particular club.  Veteran sport is one of the

fastest growing sports in Australia and Superules is contributing to that growth.

The Management Committee is ready to encourage and administer the sport in

a most professional manner.  All who have been involved with Superules so far

would say that they are able to relax and enjoy their football with their families,

and enjoy the fellowship of other people with the same interests more than ever before.

This is the secret of over-age sport and as time goes on more and more people are coming to realize the fun involved.  Enjoy the sport with your families and friends, and best wishes for the forthcoming season.
