President's Welcome Maroochydore 2006 |
||||
|
A hearty welcome to all players, umpires, officials and supporters to the Sunshine Coast. With the assistance from Queensland Events Corporation and the Maroochydore Shire Council we are delighted to be holding the 24th National Carnival at the brand new Maroochy Multi-Sports Complex at Fisherman’s Road. All players will be very impressed with the facilities and three dedicated full size AFL ovals, two with lighting for night games, which we will be taking advantage of on the Sunday, Wednesday and Friday fixtures. Special thanks to Mayor Joe Natali and his council for their tireless support and willingness to host our carnival, I’m sure during our ten day stay of sun, sea and football we will take advantage of sampling all of Maroochydore hospitality areas. With 40 teams attending, this will be our largest carnival ever. We welcome our newest Veterans division for the over 55 age limit. This is their first full carnival after playing exhibition games in Cairns 2004 and Adelaide last year. These players are our most dedicated and are the very fact that Masters Australian Football is growing at the rate it is. To Wolfie and his QMAF Organising Committee with Marty Rayner and other QMAF members, special thanks for all the energy and time you have put in to make this a carnival to remember. On behalf the MAF Board we wish all participants, umpires and supporters a very enjoyable and injury free carnival. Please take advantage of the hospitality offered by our host and remember it’s “football for fun”
