National President's Welcome Canberra 1998

Brian Stirling

We welcome you to Canberra for our 16th National Superules Carnival.

The 1998 National Carnival shall see 24 teams participating with around 500 registered players.

A.C.T. Superules have been extremely fortunate in acquiring the playing fields and facilities at the Royal Military College and the Defence Force Academy to conduct the 1998 National Carnival.

Those of you who have been involved in running a National Carnival are well aware of the amount of time and effort that goes into ensuring a successful carnival. The A.C.T. organising committee have put together a most exciting week, one which we believe will ensure your stay in the National Capital is an enjoyable one. Thanks have to be extended to Geoff Deeble, President of the organising committee and Andrew Moran, President A.C.T. Superules together with their hard working committee members for putting the program together.

Superules continues to foster as a growth sport and we Gill now boast Nationally to around 100 teams and 3000 registered players. I998 has again been very successful and we have seen the introduction of a National Insurance scheme, which I am happy to report was taken up by the majority of Clubs around Australia.

This year also saw the introduction of a "Code or Conduct" for Superules Australia, together with the finalisation and printing of our Rules and Regulations in a Policy Document which shall be distributed to all clubs.

Once again the Board would like to acknowledge the enormous support we receive from Ansett Australia on a National basis and all other sponsors who support Superules throughout the various States and Territories. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.

We look forward to a great week of Football, Fun and Frolic in the National Capital and renewing old friendships and hopefully making many new friendships.

Good luck to all competing teams and players .competing in Canberra and don't forget our motto "Football for Fun" .
