National President's Welcome Sydney 1995

David Peake

It's that time again. We shall all survive the rigours of a home and away series, of training schedules too strenuous to contemplate and negotiations with the bank manager to arrive here in Sydney to participate in, what I'm certain, will be a memorable football carnival. It will, perhaps more importantly, provide us all with opportunities to renew old acquaintances and form new ones.

The competition on the arena will be tough as is always the case. At this level we all play to win ... all that we did when we were 20 we think about doing again .. but alas, the body just doesn't do what it's told. Yes we play to win but never at the cost of friendships, or fun or fair play.

This, I am certain, is the great attraction of Superules football ... we really have nothing to prove on the football field at 35+. Been there done that.

Superules football... is for fun.  We can win on the field but there is much more to win in the relationship and encounters off the field.

Have a wonderful Carnival experience.  To the organising team in NSW, all the very best and thanks for the invitation to share in the life of your community.
