1992 Gold Coast, Queensland

  President's Welcome Gold Coast 1992

The 10th National Championships of Superules Australia is this year being celebrated on the Gold Coast.

There were many knockers in our formative years of 1983 and 1984 when not all states participated in the carnivals and to the credit of the various National Directors and State Executive the past 10 years we are now at the point of introducing our 3rd tier of competition.

As many of this years participants will know the original Superules championships of 6 teams expanded in 1987 to the concept of Masterules with WA and Queensland playing three matches over the championship week.

It is most appropriate that on Superules return to Queensland these two states are the mainstay of the Seniorules division which is being introduced for the first time this year.

It is also appropriate that the 10th Carnival has the greatest number of participants in our history and from what I can ascertain the greatest number of travelers supporting the players in the form of the wives and children.

This participation of family groups enhances the concept of Superules as Community Football.

PATRON
I welcome Alan Schwab to the Gold Coast as Patron of Superules. As all members would be aware Alan is the Executive Commissioner of the Australian Football League and this Organisation continues to provide support and assistance to our Association.

Thank you Alan for your interest and assistance to Superules.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
At the annual Meeting in February Peter Scheuffele stood down as acting Executive and the Executive appointed Bob Kennedy of Victorian Metropolitan Superules fame to replace Peter.

Bob has been part of Superules since 1986 and has participated in all carnivals to date I welcome Bob to the Executive side of Superules and trust you will find it both interesting and rewarding.

To Peter Schueffele thank you for your contribution over the proceeding 12 months in conjunction with your co-ordination of Victorian Country Superules. Congratulations on a job well done.

1992's Carnival promises to be as good or better than the preceding years with the Queensland Committee working very hard putting together a well balanced program for the week.

I know Laurie Whelan and his nominated committee-men have endeavored to cover every possible alternative and the venue at Labrador Football Club will be most I acceptable to all participants.

With many states sharing accommodation venues this year I believe the interaction and fellowship can only enhance the ideals of Superules - "Football for Fun; Football for "Kicks".

As the old friendships are renewed and new ones are made I am sure all participants and supporters are in for a most enjoyable week of both on and off the field.

Let me remind all players that the Committee have made some minor amendments to our playing and umpiring rules so please take the time to familiarise yourself with the changes.

I n closing I wish all players, umpires and supporters the best of luck for the week and I trust your lasting memories of Surfers will be the fellowship and interaction with other state members.
