Welcome to all
participants to the 9th Annual Superules and Masterules Championships of
Australia - our second visit to Darwin.
For the first time since a divisional competition was introduced in 1989, we
have had promotion and relegation.
Welcome to Victoria Country, promoted to the 1st Division after
winning the 2nd Division in 1989 and 1990. Commiserations to
South Australia who will be turning out in the 2nd Division for the first
time.
Due to the economic climate and the lack of competition in the air to
Darwin, some of our members are unable to make it this year.
To help this situation out the Executive have proposed 16-a-side for the
Masterules if teams do not have more than 19 fit players available. The
Executive wants to overcome the situation of forcing some Masterules to play
twice on one day.
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: At the July meeting of Directors JOHN WHITE tendered his
resignation from the above position due to the pressure of work and other
commitments.
As Geoff Adams transferred to Sydney in January the Executive have appointed
PETER SCHEUFFELE, the Victorian Country Director, to the position pending a
formal decision to be made by 1992's Annual Meeting.
RHONDA JENKINS, John White's secretary, has offered to continue as Superules
secretary and she will work with Peter on the secretarial and administration
areas of the association. So if you see a good-looking blonde buzzing
around, hands off - she is on the staff! .
To John White, thank you for your efforts over the last 18 months and
especially for the work you put into correcting the Constitution and legal
standing of the Association with the Victorian Corporate Affairs Department.
CONGRATULATIONS TREVOR BEST on receiving Life Membership of the Association.
NEW INITIATIVES: For the first time (and maybe the only) time in our history
the All-Australian team has the opportunity of playing together.
The NTFL Umpires Pre-season Carnival affords us the opportunity to display
our wares on Saturday and Sunday October 5th and 6th.
To the 30 players and coaches chosen to represent the Association, I know
you will do Superules proud.
DUBLIN 1993: An invitation has been extended to Superules Australia to join
in with the "Golden Oldies" festival and play some matches against the
Gaelic Football Association. This idea is only in the embryo stage at this
point in time, so in the words of Guru Bob, "Think about it". We have 12
months to make a decision.
To all participants and supporters of Superules, I know you are looking
forward to your week in the Territory and I will take this opportunity of
wishing you all Good Luck and Good Fellowship in the true spirit of
Superules.
Football for Fun; Football for Kicks - it all means the same thing - a good
time.
