Carnival Chairman's Address for 1991 Carnival

CARNIVAL CHAIRMAN'S ADDRESS WELCOME TO THE MITA COPIERS NATIONAL SUPERULES AND MASTERULES CARNIVAL

Northern Territory Superules are very proud to again host the National Superules Carnival here in Darwin.

We first hosted this Carnival in 1984 at which six teams competed - Western Australia, Queensland, Tasmania, Victorian Metropolitan, Victorian Country, Northern, Territory. The venue was the old home of Australian football in Darwin - the picturesque 'Gardens Oval. (Naturally the Northern Territory won this Carnival!). ' ,

This year we have 10 Superules and 8 Masterules teams competing from every State and Territory and it gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone here to Darwin and to our new home of football NTFL Football Park.

During your stay here we hope you take advantage of our hospitality and visit some of the Top End's world class tourist attractions.

Many thanks to the Minister for Youth, Sport and Recreation Mr. Roger Vale for his assistance and I know he will enjoy talking over footy stories with you. Thanks also to our major sponsor Mita Copiers, the NTFL and all other local companies that have supported us during this Carnival.

Thanks to the umpires for giving up their time to help us and we wish them well with the 25th Umpires Carnival in which our National All-Australian Superules side will compete.

To my fellow committee members, thank you for your support. I know its been hard but I'm sure the visitors will appreciate your outstanding efforts.

Congratulations to TREVOR BEST (Tasmania) and BRUCE ARLOW (Western Australia) on being awarded Life Membership to National Superules. These gentlemen have been part of Superules from the start and richly deserve this honour.

Take care with the heat and hospitality! Enjoy your footy and make sure you go home with terrific reports on just how good the Territory is to visit.
