1990 Melbourne, Victoria

President's Welcome Melbourne 1990

It is with a great deal more confidence then last year that I welcome all states to the 8th Annual Superules National Championships.

I am sure all states will be keen to catch up to the boys from the west & the north who did not make it to the Canberra in 1989 and I might just further this line to congratulate the ACT Committee for organising such a well run carnival with the disruptions they suffered.

CONGRATULATIONS - to Brian Moroney the long serving Northern Territory President who was elected to life membership of Superules at the annual meeting in April.  The Official presentation to Brian will be done at the presidents dinner on Friday night.

CONGRATULATIONS also to the Victorian Superules Carnival Organising Committee.  Re-elected by Victoria delegate Peter Scheuffele and chaired by Robert Ellis for the organisation of an excellent weeks activities.  I am sure they will be the equal of the past carnivals.

To the rest of the committee members I thank you for your efforts over the past 12 months and in mentioning the following members I trust any I have overlooked will forgive me.

Terry Tankard - Football Portfolio:  Mick Moro - Social Functions:  Ray Walker - Presentation Dinner:  Robert Ellis - Sponsorship & Marketing and Frank Crockford - Financial.

The true spirit of Superules is shown through the efforts of these Country and Metropolitan representatives working in close harmony to present the weeks activities for all Superules participants.

Following the outstanding success of the two divisions concept used for the first time in Canberra, it is fair to assume that this format will stay with Superules for many years to come.

Welcome to our two new administration staff who were employed following the April annual meeting.

JOHN WHITE is the Executive Director whose responsibilities are the overall management of Superules with a specific emphasis on finance and sponsorships.

GEOFF ADAMS is the Director of Administration, Marketing & Promotions.

It may seem a radical step for Superules to have two employees, however, on the retirement of Bob Utber it was felt that with two excellent people available, the talents of either one should not be lost to Superules.

FARWELL to Trevor Best the long serving Tasmanian President and delegate.  Trevor has decided to retire from the administration side of Superules at the end of this year.

Trevor has been on the National executive since 1983 either as Vice-President or an Executive Committee member and I would personally like to thank him for his efforts and wish him and his lovely wife Madeline good luck (not all the best) for the future.

In closing I wish all Superules and Masterules teams every success both on and off the field, and I am sure the true spirit of Superules will continue to prosper throughout the week.
